Cathy Ellett, a Spartanburg native, works for Elysian Magazine helping to plan events and coordinate interviews, and she also teaches at Pure Barre Spartanburg. She is a devoted community volunteer and has served on several non-profit boards, including TOTAL Ministries, Healthy Smiles, ECW at the Church of the Advent, Leadership Spartanburg Alumni Association, PTO President at McCracken and SHS, as well as past President of the Junior League of Spartanburg.

Cathy had always been aware of Habitat, but was recently able to learn more about it from a close friend that became a new Habitat homeowner. Seeing the process and how it worked--from the time of application, through volunteer hours called "Sweat Equity," and finally a Home Dedication Ceremony--made Cathy want to become more involved with the organization.

“Attending the Home Dedication last summer with my husband and children was honestly a life-changing moment for us all. Habitat not only changes the homeowners life but the lives of their family and friends as well," she said.

Cathy has been married to her husband, Aaron, for almost 27 years. They have three grown children – Jackson, Anna Grace, and Abby.
